Trail Overview

Camp 5 Trail offers a scenic ride through three distinct habitats near Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Riders will encounter pine forest with sandy and rocky terrain, low-lying wetlands with seasonal mud holes and standing water, and open stretches with western prairie views. The narrow route blends easy riding with moderate challenges depending on conditions, while wildlife sightings and pond views are common. This trail is closed from December 1 to March 31.

Difficulty

This narrow, wooded trail may cause larger vehicles to brush against limbs. Rocky washouts create some off-camber corners, though rocks remain under 12 inches. In spring, sections can flood from seasonal high water, with shallow spans between 6 and 12 inches deep. Mud holes are also present but are generally shallow and vary with the season.
