Trail Overview
Ball Club Road is a wide, well-maintained gravel route that winds through forested terrain with a series of gentle ascents and descents. Several side trails branch off from the main route, though many are unmarked or non-motorized. Along the way, the trail crosses a fast-moving river where there is walk-in canoe access. This is a popular route, and users should be aware of mixed traffic, including passenger vehicles, trucks, and side-by-sides. The trail passes through a scenic forest landscape and features a few open clearings, some of which may be used as informal rest stops. Toward the end of the route, the trail connects with Highway 8, which provides access to Grand Marais and Devil's Track Lake. A designated campground is located along the trail, offering several campsites, some positioned near the lake. The campground is equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and basic toilets, though there are no trash disposal facilities. Cell service may be limited.
