Out and back trail following Forest Road 139. Easy, scenic trail that takes you out to Persimmon Beach on Kentucky Lake. This beach is a popular place to camp or stop for a relaxing lunch by the water's edge. The shore is rocky and can be driven on when the water is at normal levels.

Difficulty

The trail is not difficult for any capable vehicle. The most technical part is driving off the trail onto the beach. It is a small dirt hill that can be slick after a rain.

It had rained the night before according to the forecast. My buddy and I had picked this trail as it seeemed an easier alternative to another trail to some more remote camp sites next to the water. He has a stock full size 4X4 truck and didn't want to try a harder trail, so this one at 2/10 seemed like a good fit. I led the way in my Jeep and noticed that there were lots of ruts and washouts and many deep mud / water crossings. He was able to do it, but I began to get more concerned. We eventually got to the end of the trail and the beach. There was one spot which was already taken. In the first pic I am showing a hill you have to go down and eventually back up to get to the beach. The harder part is that wide vehicles will struggle to get through the trees at the top. I don't see how this trail could be a 2 / 10 honestly. We had to turn back and find another camp site.
