Trail Overview

The KAT Hard 11 is made up of sections including Walker Creek Road and Old Fincastle. This particular track begins at the bypass to the very narrow section of the main trail. Most of the trail follows an old railroad bed and is fairly straight. The area around the intersection of Cowan Creek and Hard 11 will include a washed-out section of twisty downhill and uphill trail very near the old tunnel that runs underneath the railbed. Expect mud holes 8-12 inches deep with hard bottoms. The last uphill section that turns east to begin your exit is heavily eroded with rock ledges in two separate sections, one that begins as soon as you turn off the straight section of the railbed, and the other follows shortly. The trail ends on Jim Smith Road.

Access Description

This Hard 11 track begins at the bypass to the narrowest section of the trail that's become nearly impassible to full sized vehicle. Follow Walker Creek Road to beginning of track. Veer left off of the main trail into Walker Creek and follow the track. Use caution in the creek, as there's a deep water hazard near the creek exit, potentially reaching 3-4 ft deep or more.
