Trail Overview
Shelby Cemetery Trail is a route within Shawnee National Forest that begins as a gravel road before transitioning into a narrower path with mud, grass, and increasing vegetation overgrowth. At the beginning of the trail, there is an old cemetery along with access to hiking trails and a small primitive campsite area. As the trail continues, conditions become more challenging with deeper ruts and tighter clearances due to encroaching brush and tree limbs. High-clearance 4WD vehicles are strongly recommended. Full-size vehicles may encounter difficulty navigating the overgrowth and tighter sections. This trail is best suited for those prepared for more technical terrain and changing conditions deeper into the route.

Difficulty
Easy. The route begins as a gravel road before transitioning into a narrower dirt track with mud and grass sections. Deeper ruts and mud holes may be present farther along the trail, especially after rainfall. While generally manageable, these conditions can require high-clearance 4WD for consistent traction. Overgrowth may also limit access for full-size vehicles.
