Trail Overview
Stanford FR1059 is an interesting stretch of a two-track point-to-point trail through the Oconee National Forest. It provides a scenic alternate route from Greenwood Spring Road's midpoint back to Highway 212. It has a well-maintained gravel base with plenty of turns and elevation changes to make the drive enjoyable. One of the shelf sections traverses a recently harvested section of forest, providing a nice view out of the Oconee NF. There are no significant potholes or low areas along the trail, so it is unlikely that wet weather will make parts of the trail difficult to drive. Stanford FR1059 is a numbered Forest Service road, so motor vehicles must be highway licensed.
