Trail Overview

Gordon Springs is a smooth continuation of Molly Houston. This wide trail makes a gradual traverse across the mountainside. Long, sweeping corners and big rollers give it a fast, flowy feel. The trail surface is mostly small rock and loose gravel, with shallow ruts here and there, but it remains very easy to ride. It's a quick, fun section of trail, perfect for picking up speed. The north end approaches a road crossing--watch for the stop sign there. Towering white oaks line much of the route, and there's a bit of poison ivy close to the trail's edge, so be careful not to brush up on the vegetation.

The Houston Valley ORV system, south of Ringgold, Georgia, has 25 miles of easy ATV trails and is the largest Forest Service OHV system in Georgia. There is a huge paved parking area for trailers. Make sure to download the recreation.gov app to pay the $5 day use fee per ORV operator. The area is generally open from April through December 31, but can close after major rain events to let the trails dry. Call the Conasuaga Ranger District to check the status of the trails.
