Trail Overview

Turn Gulch Road (FS 238 1a or Park County 23) serves as an unpaved alternative to Park County 77 connecting US24 to the Tarryall Reservoir. This is a mild dirt/sand road suitable for larger trailers and offers numerous dispersed camping options as well as a number of side trails to explore. There are good views of the Mosquito, Front, and Taryall Ranges.

The road is 1-2 lanes wide and primarily a hard sand and dirt surface passable by most vehicles when dry.

Access Description

It is easiest to start at the Tarryall Reservoir and head south where there are signs indicating the splits for Paige, Windy, Packer, and Schoolmarm. If coming from the South of US 24, head North on San Juan Road through the neighborhood until you see the USFS access signs.
