Trail Overview

This is an easy, one-way trail with a few places to pass and some rocky and washed out sections. You'll find a handful of dispersed campsites and some great views of Idaho Springs. The end of the trail is a gate that leads to private property, and there is plenty of room to turn around there.

Like one other recent review says, the first 1/4 of the trail was great—just a couple small mud patches. After that it gets pretty snowy (pictured), and upon ascending more it got really difficult. Deep, wet snow, plenty of sliding. Eventually, about 1/3 of the way up, I turned around. Still fun though!

We hit about 2 feet of snow at 8,600 feet up and had to use the traction boards to get unstuck. Had to turn back around.

Snow and wet dotted until about 1/3 of the way up where it became only snow. My highway tired couldn’t get traction so we had to turn around. Better tires recommend. Mostly rocky, occasional water erosion maxing my articulation on stock suspension.
