Trail Overview

Pony Tail is a short but fun technical trail in the Bangs Canyon system that is mostly rocky (but not loose rock) and hard-pack dirt. The trail starts and ends on the Saddle Up 50-inch trail. Climb to an awesome 360-degree view before a descent with mild exposure back to the ATV trail. The trail seems to get generally low use. The eastern end is the most technical but there are some tight rock features at the start as well. The technicality of this trail is similar to the nearby Butterknife trail, so watch your pegs. Continue east on the Saddle Up trail to access the easier Lasso single-track trail.

Difficulty

Expect tall rock obstacles through tight rock formations. Some of these narrow single-track sections barely allow foot pegs to pass through. There are a few limited exposure sites and a couple of tight switchbacks with immediate rock obstacles.
