Trail Overview
This is a spur off the popular Hancock Pass, before the town of Hancock. This trail will take you past the Mary Murphy tram towers to some mining structures at the trams lower and midpoint terminus. From there you can continue up to Pomeroy Lake, or take a short spur to the Mary Murphy to see the many mines served by the tram. The difficult section is on the way to the lake. Dispersed camping is available above the tree line at the lake.

Beautiful view at the top of this trail. Including some pics of the toughest obstacle near the top. There is a bypass but it’s still challenging

Made it about 2/3 of the way up in a stock JKU followed by a stock 4Runner. Stopped at a big rocky hill climb because we didn't think the 4Runner would make it through. Nice scenery on a rocky trail.

Fantastic trail. Generally an easy trail until the last 30%. Section that merits this trail to a 5 has a go-around. Large, slow rock section at very top on final stretch.

Open. Wet, some snow, mud. It rained so rocks were slick but very passable.
