Trail Overview

Embargo is a really fun and challenging single track with advanced rock obstacles. From the south entrance, it enters the forest as a narrow single track, side-hilling and winding through the trees. The beginning is the calm before the storm, as it starts fast and flowy, but has many rocky challenges to come. You'll be riding up many rock obstacles in the south-to-north direction. The trail has constant embedded rocks on the surface, with only a few little breaks from the rocks. It goes through rock gardens full of embedded boulders, switchbacks with boulders on the corners, up rock ledges that are a couple of feet tall, and across scree fields. It's challenging when the trail is narrow and you have to pick the best line through the rock obstacle. Near the north end, it crosses a small stream full of boulders. Once you get to the high-elevation tundra, the rocks finally let up and it side-hills across a grassy hillside until it's at the saddle. From here, it either connects to the Benino ATV trail or the La Garita Stock Driveway ATV trail.
