Trail Overview
This southern segment of the Ellis Trail is a rocky double-track that starts on the south end with a killer view of Hahn's Peak in a beautiful green meadow of wildflowers. The south trailhead starts off of a jeep road that has some mud puddles and washouts, and then it starts to go into a forest of pine and aspen trees. There are lots of big boulders on the trail, with light curves and small hills with loose dirt. This is a trickier trail for a 50-inch vehicle due to so many big rocks, and it would be easier for a dirt bike. This segment of Ellis and the northern segment of Ellis are separated by a dirt road.
