Trail Overview

The Elk Creek Loop makes a 4-mile loop off of the Upper Elk Creek ATV Trail. The east entrance starts as a wide ATV trail between the pine trees, with small pieces of rock in the trail. It has sudden dips and rollers to watch out for, and branches sticking over the trail. The trail splits for the nonmotorized Pinball Ridge, but this trail stays to the right and starts ascending, as it follows the edge of the mountainside up a shelfy trail. There's potential for downed logs here, but most are cut, or sticking partially into the trail, so ATVs will need to watch out for logs. It doubles back on a couple of easy and wide hairpin turns as it climbs up the mountain. Some spots are slightly steeper, but it's pretty gradual for the entire 2.7 miles of climbing. It crosses a wooden bridge and descends back down through more wide switchbacks for the remaining 1.3 miles. There are small bits of rock in the trail, but still no big obstacles. This trail is open 6/16 - 11/14.
