Trail Overview
The Ditch Loop is a fun trail through Wolford that rides through a V-bottom ravine with banked corners and quick Star Wars-style turns. The west entrance to the trail starts in the ditch off of the 551 ATV trail, below tall dirt walls. There is a wider trail along the bottom of the ditch or a narrower parallel trail that pops up and over the dirt walls around the corners. It makes fast tight turns through the ditch, but it's pretty wide, so you can see any oncoming traffic. It's pretty scenic and unique, as it rides right next to cool dirt bluffs, and between a narrow crack between the tall dirt walls. The trail was unmarked at the entrance but there's a signpost in the ditch later on, so you know you're on the right track. This trail makes a lollipop shape. It stays in the ditch for the stem of the lollipop and most of the west half of the loop, but climbs out of the ditch back onto the rolling sagebrush hills. It parallels along County Road 22 as it heads back south. The trail is easy to miss the turn along the highway to connect back to the other half of the loop, so make sure to have a map or look out for the right-hand turn onto the singletrack to make the bottom part of the loop.
