This dirt trail is easy for any vehicle to traverse the forest full of cedars and pines. Big Trees Picnic Site is nearby along with numerous hiking trails and off-road trails to take in the hidden canyons, springs, and peaks hidden by the thick forest trees. This trail is Open to Highway Legal Vehicles Yearlong. During Hunting Season; 9/22-11/04 the road is Open to ALL Vehicles (Always be Cautious of Others). *Dual Road and Seasonal Snow Trail Routes* Road 0096 (Mosquito Ridge Road) is open to wheeled motorized vehicle travel by the public, except when managed as a snow trail as described in the "Special Seasonal Designations for Roads Managed as Tracked Over-Snow Vehicle Routes Table." For current Open/Closed Status of Road 0096, call the American River Ranger District at 530-367-2224 ext. 228
