San Emigdio - FS 9N34

Trail Overview

This is an easily navigable dirt road up the mountain that has a few small washouts, but nothing to stop the average explorer. There are a couple of small, undeveloped campsites along the way, and at the top, there are amazing views of Bakersfield as well as Pine Mountain Club. The big landing at the top of the trail has a wider open dirt area and a steep drop-off towards Bakersfield. Soon after this, there is a large deadfall that will need a few people to clear, so as of this writing, only half the trail is open. Please be careful with speed at the beginning, as many locals bring their dogs here for an off-leash hike up the road year-round.

Difficulty

There is a deeper rut to traverse right after the main gate before the first climb. If you can get over this small obstacle, nothing afterwards should give you any pause until after the lookout.
