Trail Overview
This is a short cutoff trail that bails you out from Trail 5, back to the road portion of Rock Creek Loop, and out to Rock Creek Road. The trail is 1.2 miles long, and mostly gradually ascends from south to north, gaining about 450 feet in elevation. The trail is shelfy, but not overly narrow, as it cuts across the hillside on the steady ascent. The grade is slightly steeper on the south end, but it gets more gradual and less shelfy on the north end as it starts to wind through the hilltop instead of side-hill. Expect several big root bands, small embedded rock surfaces, and tight corners, a few steeper spots, but no major ledges or obstacles. It's overall an easy bailout ideal for riders with an average skill level. The trail is lined with tall and skinny lodgepole pines during the ascent, and then goes through tunnels of manzanita trees near the top, making it a scenic bailout.

Difficulty
This is overall an easy trail as it doesn't have any major obstacles, but it does have some mild side-hilling as it cuts across the hill, so it will require a basic level of experience with this type of terrain. This is rated Moderate by the Forest Service, likely due to the mild exposure and semi-steep grades.
