Trail Overview

This 5.25-mile point-to-point trail starts at Highway 120 near Mono Mills and ends at 120 Cutoff to FS 1S06. The trail climbs over 700 feet and drops 100 feet along its route. It is made of sand and pumice and is lined with sagebrush and a sparse pine forest. The trail passes through open meadows with views of Mono Lake and Crater Mountain visible through the trees. The trail can get very dusty in dry conditions. The width of the trail varies, but is generally suitable for a single vehicle. The trail is scenic and offers a mix of forest and open landscapes.

Difficulty

This trail features some sections that have deep ruts and lots of whoops caused by side-by-side traffic. The sand is deeper in some areas. A 4x4 and high-clearance vehicle are not required but are highly recommended.
