Trail Overview

This 2.5-mile two-track trail is a direct and challenging connector for accessing the deeper high-country network between Tamarack Creek and South Fork Tamarack Road. The road is defined by steep, loose climbs where the surface material (mostly dirt and rock) provides poor traction, demanding careful wheel placement and momentum. The trail passes through a heavy 2020 Creek Wildfire recovery zone, visible in the abundant snags and logging debris alongside the road. This route features numerous flat, scenic dispersed campsites near the intersection with Tamarack Creek, offering a perfect, shady basecamp despite the surrounding fire hazards.

Difficulty

This trail earns its R4 rating due to the mandatory loose and steep climbs, where 4x4 is strongly recommended to maintain traction and torque. The trail features significant elevation gain over a short distance, and the lack of firm bedrock means the surface constantly challenges grip. High clearance is mandatory to avoid undercarriage impact on exposed rocks and rutted sections.
