BLM 310

Trail Overview

This trail runs west to east, connecting BLM 194 NW to BLM 326. The first part cuts into a wash with tall sand and mud walls, creating an enclosed environment. It quickly comes out of the wash and moves across the open desert, transitioning to flat terrain. At mile 2, it goes into another wash before the trail cuts up, down, and through some sand and mud hills that look like the Badlands, creating dramatic and unique scenery. Later, the trail drops into another small wash where the trail surface is very fine sand with some deep sand requiring careful momentum management. You'll enjoy great views of Superstition Mountain, Coyote Mountains, and especially Fish Creek Mountain throughout. The trail is lined with desert bushes, including creosote and salt bushes. Part of the western side of the trail is totally changed after storms, making conditions unpredictable. High clearance four wheel drive is highly recommended for this demanding route.

Difficulty

There are lots of ruts, very off-camber sections, and a few drops in and out of washes, creating constant technical challenges. The trail cuts up, down, and through sand and mud hills demand skilled driving and careful line choice. The very fine sand with some deep sand in the later wash section requires excellent momentum management. High clearance four wheel drive is highly recommended as essential equipment. The western side being totally changed after storms means conditions can vary significantly from previous visits, and navigation may be challenging.
