Trail Overview
Starting on Highway 14 as one of the main entrances to Dove Springs OHV Open Riding Area, this route transitions from hard pack dirt and gravel to sand as you progress. The 15 mph speed limit controls traffic flow on this very busy road, especially on weekends when you need to watch for traffic coming in and out constantly. Small ruts, off-camber sections, washboards, and whoops create varied obstacles while very dusty conditions reduce visibility throughout, particularly problematic with heavy weekend traffic kicking up clouds.

Difficulty
The transition from hard pack dirt and gravel to sand requires traction adjustment as the surface changes. Those small ruts, off-camber sections, washboards, and whoops create manageable challenges without extreme difficulty. The 15 mph speed limit helps control dust and congestion, but expect very dusty conditions regardless. Very busy weekends mean heavy traffic in both directions, demanding constant awareness. The main challenge is traffic and dust management rather than technical obstacles. Any vehicle handles the terrain, but patience with weekend crowds matters.
