Easy: The road narrows to one lane in places with a few mildly steep descents and climbs. Suitable for any stock SUV; however, 4-wheel-drive may be needed when road is wet. Snow possible at higher elevations in winter.

The trail is generally easy, but there are some rocky sections with sharp stones that are still manageable. You'll also hit areas of soft sand and dust. The views are impressive, complementing the trail's charm. A 2WD truck handles it well, and I’ve been using mine loaded up without any issues—no signs of struggle at all.

Access Description

From Interstate 5 just south of Gorman and east of the Hungry Valley SVRA, head east on Highway 138 about 4.2 miles past Quail Lake. Turn right and head south on Old Ridge Route. After 2.2 miles, continue straight on deteriorating paved road. Just after sign for Angeles N.F. boundary in another 3 miles, turn left on 7N23.
