Trail Overview

This trail takes you to Eureka Peak, which is a mountain top viewpoint allowing you to have a 360-degree view of the area from a high elevation. There are hiking trails throughout this area and one that will take you to the very top of Eureka Peak with just a few hundred feed of walking. There may be Deer, Bighorn Sheep, and other wildlife along the top of this trail as featured in one of the photos.

SIMPLE DIRT ROAD WITH THE TYPICAL WASH OUTS ASSOCIATED WITH RAINFALL IN THIS AREA. ONE STRETCH HAS SOME SMALL JAGGED ROCKS BUT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

Easy going, some sandy spots, but nothing difficult. No mud as all water seems to have dried up. Worth the view at the top!

Road conditions good after recent rains, a bit washboard but not bad. Ok for 2WD with some clearance, nice drive for our Revel. Wonderful 360 degree with a short hike from the parking area, which also has a great view.

Open, despite what the NPS site said. Soft in spots but no problem. Great trip!

Access Description

The trailhead is just south a mile or so from LA Contenta School and on La Contenta Road.
