Trail Overview
Erickson Ridge Loop is a relatively easy loop trail in Mendocino National Forest. From M1 (Elk Mountain Road) going north, the trail starts on your left, with a narrower dirt trail on the left and a wider trail (FR 20N04) on the right. The suggested route is to start on the narrower dirt trail on the left. As the trail ascends, you may encounter shallow water crossings about a foot deep and a moderate climb with large ruts (that can be avoided by riding between the ruts). The trail back down is much easier, and you will rejoin the start of the loop close to M1. Stock high-clearance 4WD is recommended due to the water crossing and ruts. The trail may be subject to seasonal closure in the winter and spring. There is no cell reception on T-Mobile or Verizon, so download maps before heading out.
