Dry Creek Road - FS3S22

Trail Overview

The trail starts at Inyo Craters Road and is part of the scenic Inyo National Forest. It's mostly sandy with some small rocks and features several corners, north of a large meadow, that have deep ruts and whoops, caused by heavy side-by-side use. The trail is just over one vehicle wide, and drivers should watch for low-hanging branches that could impact taller vehicles. About a mile in, the trail leaves the forest and runs through a washboard-heavy section before opening into a large meadow. After about three-quarters of a mile, it returns to the forest. Along the route, you'll enjoy beautiful views of June Mountain, Rainbow Mountain, Mammoth Mountain, and the surrounding ranges. The trail runs west of Deadman Dome and Deer Mountain.

This trail requires careful driving due to deep ruts, whoops, and narrow sections. High clearance and 4x4 vehicles are recommended, especially for navigating sandy and washboard sections. Drivers should be prepared for moderately challenging terrain with some technical corners.
