Trail Overview
H14, known as "The Shoot," is a 3-Diamond, two-way trail located on the 400-Side of Hot Springs Off-Road Park. Though just 0.1 miles long, it drops 132 feet, making it one of the steepest short runs in the Park. The trail runs under a powerline corridor, giving it an open-sky feel that stands in contrast to the dense tree cover found on most of the 400-Side. This openness, combined with the sharp descent, gives H14 a dramatic and exposed atmosphere. The trail is guarded on both sides by massive 10-foot rocky clay walls--not obstacles, but striking natural features that give the trail its name. The surface consists of a mixture of slippery, loose medium-sized rocks and clay, and the terrain can shift significantly with weather. A Park Day-Use Trail Pass is required to access this system of trails. Cell service is spotty in places, and trail conditions can change rapidly, especially after rain.
