Trail Overview
This trail offers a rewarding experience for those seeking both adventure and some of the best dispersed camping in this part of the Ozarks. It begins as a wide, smooth, and well-maintained road, but once past the trailhead, the terrain quickly becomes more challenging and engaging. Drivers will encounter rocky, narrow, and winding sections, with muddy patches, potholes, and steep ascents that make for an exciting off-road drive. The diversity of terrain and vegetation is notable throughout. Storm damage is evident in places, with deep ruts requiring careful navigation, particularly on the descents. The trail eventually ends at two closed gates and does not, despite what maps may indicate, connect to the Barkshed campsite.
