Trail Overview

This mostly smooth forest road rolls gently through the Kaibab National Forest. This portion, on the Southern End, is mostly wide open with vistas of the San Francisco Peaks to the south. As you roll down this road, you may see elk, antelope, and a few cattle grazing on the scrub brush or basking in the shade of Pinon Pine and Juniper trees that frame this road. It also passes by the old Moqui Stage Station - a horse stop and changeover station along the trail that ran from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon. The Route was active from 1892-1899, took 12 hours, and cost $20. There are no campsites and no obstacles over 12" on this trail.
