History
This rustic cabin was built in the late 1880s by the Hull brothers, who maintained a sheep ranch. The cabin was acquired by the Forest Service in 1907 for use as a ranger station. George Reed was the ranger and lived in the cabin at that time. In 1985, the cabin was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In 1907, the U.S. Forest Service purchased Hull Cabin and converted it into a ranger station. George Reed, the first ranger stationed at Hull Cabin, carved his name and the date "07" into the barn. The cabin was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Today, Hull Cabin is a preserved site, offering visitors a glimpse into the early history of the Kaibab National Forest and the Grand Canyon area. Hull Cabin is considered the oldest surviving cabin near the Grand Canyon's South Rim. It is located in a secluded stand of ponderosa pine trees. The site provides easy access to various recreational activities, including hiking, biking, and fishing. Hull Cabin serves as a reminder of the area's ranching and mining history, as well as the early pioneers who established a presence in the Grand Canyon region.
