Trail Overview

Hellgate Spring Trail is a narrow gravel wash where pinstripes are possible. The route winds through small canyons before ending at the spring worth taking a moment to explore. This trail runs entirely on Arizona State Trust land, so a permit is required. After enjoying the spring, turn right and climb a narrow, off-camber, rutted hill. At the top, take a left, then another left. The trail eventually dead-ends at Morgan City Wash in BLM land. Turning right there will loop you back toward the Hellsgate Wilderness Trail. 4WD is recommended for the hill climb, and high clearance is advised throughout. Overall, it's a fun run with a unique spring to check out. Avoid the trail in wet weather--flash flooding is possible.
