Trail Overview
This trail starts at EC1332 and runs east toward the Yuma Proving Grounds border. The surface begins as hard-packed sand but gets rockier with loose gravel, sand, ruts, and off-camber sections as you continue east. The last couple of miles transition to almost all small rocks and get progressively bumpy. The trail offers nice views of the Trigo Mountains and is sparsely lined with ironwood trees and the occasional ocotillo brush. The area is used by winter snowbirds for dispersed camping. Wild horses roam the area, adding to the remote desert experience. The area includes both BLM land, Arizona Restricted Trust Land, and Federal Reclamation Land. Although the trail continues, it officially ends at the border of the Yuma Proving Grounds, which is part of the Department of Defense and is off-limits.

Difficulty
The first two-thirds of the trail rates 1 to 2 with straightforward, hard-packed sand. The last third bumps up to a rating of 3 as the surface transitions to rockier terrain with loose gravel, ruts, and off-camber sections. The small rocks in the final miles require more attention and will slow your pace. There is one deep wash to go in and out.
