Trail Overview
Arizona Bay Road (38) is a point-to-point trail beginning off of East Cottonwood Cove Road and eventually ending near the water (Lake Mead Recreation Area) while also connecting with a few other trails in the area. It is predominantly an easy dirt road as far as difficulty. At some point, water had flown over the trail, causing some small erosion ruts here and there, but nothing major. Likely avoid this trail in wet or rainy conditions. Closer to the water, around 4.5 miles in, there are a few deeper sandy hill sections on the trail. Going down (traveling east to west) would be no trouble, but coming up (west to east) could be. Fortunately, bypass trails are found in those sections. The trail sign states "4x4 Recommended." It would be good to have it as a "just in case" for those sandy sections or in wet/muddy conditions. Aside from that, on an average day, 4x4 is not needed. Some ground clearance would be good for the one or two washes. Expect intermittent cell service--it's stronger near the mountains and weaker towards the water.
