Trail Overview

Shelter Cove 8300000 starts where Shelter Cove Road section 1 turns into a Spur road. Shelter Cove is a one-lane gravel with a grass centerline with some smaller potholes and a tree at the start. There is a very short spur road to the left that has a view overlooking the hillside at an old landing site with a possible camp area halfway up. It is a hilly road that ends past a pond at a very tight place to back up and turn around, and no place to pull over for a passing vehicle. Not recommended to tow anything down this road, as there are no places to turn around. Ferns and berry bushes around the pond, and trees covered with moss. There is a water crossing at the low section of the road by the pond. This is a quiet, remote place with small water birds, and you can hear the trickle of water crossing the road. Trees, Shrubs, and grass line this road. This Island has black bears, so be safety-minded when outside your vehicle. Lots of Deer are seen in this area as well. Be mindful of other travelers, as there is no place to pull over. The Spur Road 8300, included in this map, ends near the bridge where it turns into Shelter Cove Road. And is a maintained gravel road.
