Trail Overview

The Black Diamond Peak 2 Trail is part of the West Side Healy trail network. The trail starts in the low brush and trees just south west of the downtown of Healy and climbs up the side of a mountain before peaking the rider the top of a look out point just north of Black Diamond Peak and provides breathtaking views of the Healy valley just on the outskirts of Denali National Park and preserve. This trail is often used by the Denali Fat Tire Truck business, so be on the lookout for Sherps on the trail!

Difficulty

The Black Diamond Peak 2 trail starts out easier than Black Diamond 1, but quickly hits steep grades as you head higher into the mountains. The trail then requires riders to climb over steps made into the trail to keep erosion down, which will require higher clearance to avoid the risk of getting stuck on the ledge. The final exit to the trail is a very steep downgrade and will require heavy brake usage or a lower gear to avoid gaining speed.
