Trail Overview

Whoop Line 250 runs through a brutal stretch of the Baja 250 course between VCP 9 and VCP 12, serving up an endless series of deep, uneven whoops carved into sandy desert terrain. The trail is loose and fast in places, with scattered small rocks that force quick corrections and suspension discipline. It winds through classic Baja desert, surrounded by creosote, cactus, and tall ocotillos stretching toward the sun. While there are unfortunate signs of illegal dumping along the way, the big payoff comes in the form of striking views--rolling out toward the Sea of Cortez as you approach San Felipe, with the Baja mountain ranges shrinking behind you.

History

The SCORE San Felipe 250, a 250-mile off-road race, was first held in 1982 and is sanctioned by SCORE International. The race takes place near San Felipe on the Baja California Peninsula. It is one of four races in the SCORE World Desert Championship series, which also includes the Baja 500, Baja 400, and Baja 1000. The San Felipe 250 is often referred to as the "Baby Baja". The race course has featured several legendary washes like Matomi, Huatomote, and Chanate over the years.
