Trail Overview
This trail starts off of the Lower Canyon Loop and once you reach the mesa, the journey truly pays off--after mapping hundreds of Baja trails, few offer the stunning density of cacti in bloom like this one. For a few miles, you'll ride through a vibrant display of various cactus species, including rare flowering Agave Maguey or Agave Shawii, their towering stalks resembling something out of a Dr. Seuss book. Descending from the mesa, the vegetation thins and the trail becomes steeper, covered in loose, handball-sized rocks. Use caution here, as braking or speeding can lead to long slides, with some crevices adding to the challenge. After clearing this tricky section, you'll soon reach a concrete structure and turn right, rejoining the main trail back toward Highway 1.

Difficulty
Under typical dry conditions, this trail is straightforward, with only one area requiring extra attention. As you descend from the mesa, a steep stretch covered in loose rocks can be tricky, requiring slow and controlled driving to avoid sliding into the rain ruts on the descent. Beyond these spots, the trail is an easy, enjoyable ride. As this loop does require completing parts of two other trails they should also be reviewed.
