Trail Overview
This trail offers a wealth of experiences despite its relatively short length. Along the route, explorers will discover charming cabins, encounter diverse wildlife, and marvel at unique rock formations amidst an intriguing blend of mountain and desert vegetation. Navigating this trail requires a 4WD vehicle due to deep ruts and holes along the way. Initially starting as a well-maintained road, the path transitions into a grassy two-track after the first cabin, passing several cabins and a small dam likely used for watering livestock. Fallen trees necessitate short detours in two sections, but beyond these, the route heads south toward impressive rock formations. One unlocked gate along the trail lacks signage unless approached from the opposite direction. The gate is unlocked, with signage instructing travelers to stop and proceed slowly. While not a complete loop, you can streamline your return by bypassing the first 4 miles after the last detour, continuing straight north to the lake. Heading up the southern climb, the track becomes more technical, offering another detour and showcasing the trip's most striking rock formations. Upon reaching the trail's end, enthusiasts can indulge in hiking and bouldering, adding to the adventure for those eager to explore further.
