The Subida de Cactus or Cactus Rise Trail is a scenic ascent that winds from 318 feet to 775 feet in elevation, offering a vivid transformation in desert flora along the way. As the trail climbs, the landscape transitions from a patch of small Teddy Bear Cholla to a striking forest of Ocotillo, eventually giving way to towering Mexican Giant Cardon cacti. This gradual rise rewards travelers with expansive views--both of the rugged inland mountains and the shimmering blue stretch of the Sea of Cortez to the east. The route is a tranquil drive through diverse vegetation, perfect for photography and nature appreciation.
