Trail Overview
This short off-road loop, accessible to high-clearance 2WD vehicles, offers a unique experience for those comfortable navigating shallow sand and adjusting tire pressure if needed. The route stands out for its abundant wildlife, particularly the striking Crested Caracara birds, which are densely concentrated near the western section of the loop closer to the water and nesting areas. Along the trail, expect to encounter rabbits, coyotes, and other small desert animals, along with a variety of mid-sized desert vegetation. The sandy terrain averages about 2 inches deep, with some washboard sections on the eastern stretch leading back to the highway, which is mostly downhill and easier to navigate.
