Trail Overview
This route begins off Highway 1 as a well-traveled ranch road, mostly free of corrugation, with stretches that alternate between smooth terrain and sections of exposed hard rock and chunky surfaces where the sand has eroded over time. The trail is flanked by medium-sized vegetation, offering ample clearance on both sides to avoid any risk of scratching your vehicle. In dry conditions, 2WD is sufficient for the entire route. Around the seven-mile mark, the trail reaches a high point, where excellent camping spots can be found. From there, the road descends through a stunning El Cordon cactus forest, transitioning into a soft, sandy path surrounded by towering cacti. This route concludes at a four-way intersection offering multiple options for exploration. Continuing straight leads towards the coast, while turning left provides a 20-mile journey to the start of a paved road connecting to Highway 19. A right turn takes you toward additional ranches and access to other coastal routes.
