Trail Overview

A simple, short trail with some beautiful views overlooking the Yellowstone Valley at times. Lots of water bars, some short, simple, steep grades. The road narrows as you get onto the trail. It would be difficult to pass in some areas. There are a few areas of rocks and some short areas of trail that wash out.

At times, I would not take a car on this road. This trail is better for offroading equipped vehicles.

Lots of logging activity in the area has reduced much of the trail to 4 inches of loose, powdered sugar dirt. Trail is still passable, but be prepared for an extremely dusty ride.

Access Description

If you take Iris Street south out of town and follow FS1700/South Plateau Road to the turn on either end.
