Trail Overview

The Cold Spring Hill ATV trail, identified as Trail # 259 by the Bitterroot National Forest, ascends the Northeast slope of Cold Spring Hill. Cold Spring Hill is one of two prominent peaks in the North Fork Rye area of the Forest (the other being Deer Mountain). The trail was constructed partly from a decommissioned logging road, so the grades on the first part of the trail are quite gentle, even though the tread is narrow and rocky. The second half of the trail is newly constructed trail and is steeper and more challenging, with a lot of twists and turns. Altogether a very pleasant ride, and the views from the top of the hill are awesome.
