Goose Creek Footpath Access

Trail Overview

The Goose Creek Footpath Access is an unmaintained gravel trail, located on the east side of Goose Creek Road, and offers access to the Goose Creek Fundy Footpath Access trail. It's a single-vehicle wide path with occasional passing areas. While the trees along the trail were cut back in 2025, the trail can at times be overgrown, posing a risk of pinstripes to vehicles. Cell service is spotty and often weak along most of the route. The trailhead for hiking into the Footpath is at 45.52264, -65.17568. From here, it's an approximately 8-kilometer (5-mile) hike on an ATV trail leading to a beautiful rocky beach. On the east side of Goose Creek, you'll also spot a distinctive rock face known as the "Centurion".

History

The Fundy Footpath is a 41-kilometer-long rugged hiking trail (~25 miles), and stretches from a place called Big Salmon River all the way to Fundy National Park (you can extend the hike into Fundy National Park if you're looking for a longer journey). This isn't just a walk in the park! Although the highest elevation is about 300 meters (~1,000 feet), the trail is a constant up and down into river valleys and ravines for a total elevation gain of approximately 3,000 metres (~10,000 feet). There are several river crossings, two of which are tricky because they're tidal; they fill up with ocean water when the tide is high, so you can only cross them safely when the tide is low. So, if you're planning to hike the Fundy Footpath, you need to know when those low tides are to cross those rivers (although you can now by-pass the Goose River crossing by following a path up the river and into Fundy National Park)!
