Trail Overview

This is a shorter trail that takes you from Bear Lake Main FSR to Pennask Lake Recreation site. The first 4km of this trail are fairly straightforward, winding through a forest with occasional potholes and ruts. The trail is one lane wide for the most part with ample room to pass oncoming traffic if needed. The last 1.5km of the trail are quite a bit more slow going. There are potholes and bumps, ruts, gentle off-camber areas, and multiple deep puddles to cross with a soft mucky bottom. For this section of the road, you will definitely require a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle. The road will take you to a recreation site on Pennask Lake. There are several rustic spots on the water and a few outhouses. There is minimal traffic on this trail and no cell service (satellite device advised). If you are looking for a quiet hideaway where the fishing is good, it's worth the trail!
