Trail Overview
Back Road is a gravel route just over one and a half vehicle widths wide, starting just off Vernal Lake Road near a bridge crossing. The trail is lined with tall pine trees and dense brush, creating a classic forested corridor. The over 11-mile road runs roughly parallel to the Nimpkish River, offering numerous beautiful views of the surrounding hills and river valleys. Along the way, there are several small potholes to carefully navigate, though the overall surface remains manageable for most vehicles. A couple of spur roads branch off this main trail, inviting exploration into quieter, less traveled areas. The initial bridge crossing provides a particularly pretty view of Vernal Lake, making for a scenic start to the journey.
