Trail Overview
Mushroom Gulch Trailhead starts at the intersection of FS 307 and FS 308 within the 4-Mile Recreation Area. This is a well-maintained forest service road that runs through the southern portion of the 4 Mile and the San Isabel and Pike National Forests. It is generally wide enough for 2 vehicles for most of the trail. There are a multitude of dispersed camping sites, many of them large enough for groups of campers and RVs. This is a very popular area due to the ease of access to the rest of the 4-Mile Recreation area. At the intersection of Buckrake Drive and Mushroom Gulch, it becomes a single-lane track that runs behind Kaufman Ridge and dead ends into the Ranch of the Rockies development. This portion of the road has only a few dispersed camping sites.
