Trail Overview

The Ant Flat Road is a pleasant and easy mountain drive that runs between Monte Cristo in Ogden Valley and Hardware Ranch in Cache County. The road is well graded making it very easy for just about anyone to drive and takes you through high-mountain valleys with nice views along the way. The road is usually open by late spring. It opens before many others in the surrounding mountains, making it great in late spring. It usually closes by late November. The road is a popular, groomed snowmobile trail in winter where you can stop and see the elk wintering at Hardware Ranch.

Came up from hardware ranch and got a ways up the road before it became really muddy and then turned to deep snow. No full-size rig tracks through the snow but some ATV tracks continuing on. Snow will most likely clear in a few weeks given no more major snowstorms happen.

Wasn’t too muddy. Got almost to the summit and got stuck in deep snow. A buddy pulled me out with his Silverado. On the way down, he slipped into a ditch and I pulled him out.
