Trail Overview

This trail runs south from the town of Dunbar into the southern portion of the DunGood Trail system. Parts of this trail are open to ATVs/SxSs, but there are areas where it shares sections of forest road open to all vehicles. This trail travels through some very picturesque forests, with lots of variation in tree type. It provides excellent views in the peak of fall foliage. The trail surface is primarily sand with some small sections of gravel and small rock mixed in throughout. Some areas of the trail are roughly one and a half SXS's wide, whereas other portions are 2 SXS's wide. The overall terrain is very accepting to riders of any skill level, although some sharp corners can cause a machine to push through the corner depending on how much loose sand has built up in the berm.

Difficulty

This trail can be ridden by riders of any skill level. Sight lines are okay to good, and trail obstacles remain relatively small. If there have recently been large amounts of heavy rain there are areas that can wash out creating large ruts on hillsides. The local clubs do an excellent job of keeping the trails groomed and maintained, but these ruts are something to be aware of. If the trail has not been groomed recently there can also be the chance that some sharp corners will start to pick up a lot of loose sand in the berm. Caution should be taken on these corners as they could pull a machine off the trail. Small areas of washboard can also be found depending on the last grooming.
