Trail Overview

This is a seasonal trail, open from 10/1 to 1/15. This scenic point-to-point trail in the George Washington National Forest runs along Trail ID 152 in West Virginia. Mitchell Knob trail offers climbs and descents, scenic views of the mountains and valleys, and several switchbacks. Dispersed camping is allowed along the full length of the trail within 150 feet off the road, with multiple camping options. Hunters use this trail, so be sure to stay aware.

Difficulty

This is a dirt or rocky road with gentle grades. The trail is mostly dirt and smaller rocks with no real obstacles other than some shallow water or mud puddles, safe for most 4WD and high-clearance 2WD vehicles. Roads are typically one vehicle wide. Cell phone service is mostly unavailable or spotty along the trail.
